Getting Started
You don’t need to choose a program on your own. Tell us about your dog, the challenges you’re experiencing, and what you’d like to accomplish through our training application. We’ll review the information and recommend the program that best fits your dog, your household, and your goals.
Our team reviews your application and contacts you to discuss your dog, answer your questions, and recommend the appropriate next step. Once the program, scheduling, agreement, and payment are completed, your trainer will reach out to begin planning your dog’s training.
Not every dog requires an in-person evaluation. We begin by reviewing your training application and may recommend a consultation or evaluation when a dog has a bite history, severe reactivity, aggression, anxiety, or other complex behavioral concerns.
Black Anchor K9 serves clients in San Antonio, Texas, as well as Southern New Hampshire and Northern Massachusetts. The same core training programs are available in both service areas. Visit the location page nearest you for local service-area details and availability.
Programs
Black Anchor K9 offers Board & Train, private training, puppy training, behavior modification, and AKC evaluations. Every program is tailored to the individual dog, the owner’s goals, and the level of support needed.
Private training consists of one-on-one sessions where you work directly with your trainer and dog. Board & Train is a more immersive option in which your dog stays with a trainer in their home for focused daily training. Both include owner coaching so you can understand and maintain the training at home.
Yes. Puppy training focuses on foundational obedience, household structure, communication, social development, and everyday skills. Behavior modification is designed for dogs experiencing concerns such as reactivity, fear, aggression, anxiety, or other complex behaviors.
Training Approach
We use a balanced training approach built around clear communication, reinforcement, structure, and appropriate training tools. Methods are selected according to the individual dog’s temperament, behavior, learning style, and training goals rather than relying on one rigid system.
Yes. Owner coaching is an essential part of every program. We teach you how to communicate clearly with your dog, use the training tools correctly, reinforce expectations, and continue building progress after formal training ends.
Yes. We work with dogs experiencing reactivity, fear, aggression, anxiety, bite histories, and other behavioral concerns. Recommendations are made case by case after reviewing the dog’s history, environment, behavior, and the owner’s goals.
Board & Train
Your dog stays with a trainer and receives structured, consistent training throughout each day. The program may include obedience, household manners, leash skills, public training, confidence building, and behavior work based on your dog’s needs. You’ll receive updates and participate in owner lessons so you can continue the training at home.
Board & Train programs generally range from two to five weeks, depending on your dog’s age, behavior, training history, and goals. After reviewing your application, we’ll recommend the program length most appropriate for your dog.
Yes. Owner lessons are included because your dog’s progress depends on consistency after returning home. These lessons teach you the commands, handling techniques, training tools, and expectations used during the program. The number and timing of lessons depend on the specific program.
Pricing & Payment
Pricing depends on the program, location, training goals, and level of support your dog needs. After reviewing your training application, we’ll recommend the appropriate program and provide clear pricing before you commit.
Yes. Clients may pay in full or explore available financing through PayPal, Affirm, or the All Pet Card. Financing is subject to approval and the terms established by each provider.
For more information click here.Deposits are non-refundable because they reserve your dog’s training dates and the trainer’s availability. Requests to transfer a deposit to new dates are reviewed individually and remain subject to the terms of your training agreement and scheduling availability.
After Training
Owner coaching and follow-up support are built into our training process. Depending on the program, this may include transfer lessons, guidance from your trainer, and additional training options when more support is needed.
Training creates a strong foundation, but lasting progress depends on consistency at home. Following the routines, expectations, and handling techniques taught by your trainer helps your dog understand that the same rules continue after the program ends.
Contact us as soon as you notice a problem returning. We can help identify what may have changed, review how the training is being maintained, and recommend the appropriate next step, which may include additional guidance, a follow-up lesson, or refresher training.
